My Vacation

I called the doc yesterday to see if they had my blood test results. After putting me on hold for a bit, they said that the blood vial was sent to one location in Texas, then it went to another state up north, and then that facility sent it to Salt Lake City! After the nurse and I giggled about me being OVER whatever it is I have by the time they finally diagnose me, I realized that at least a little piece of me is getting a vacation this week, while the rest of me is stuck at home! How ironic! Oh well, at least my cough is almost gone.

SPRING has Sprung!!!!

No matter what the experts say, Spring is already here! Every year our family visits the Arboretum, and to me, at least, it signals the beginning of spring! It is like a cleansing to my soul - the cold and dust of winter is washed away by the colors, fragrance, and sunshine of the gorgeous flowers! I just love it. And, judging from the kids' reactions, they enjoy it, too (though they mostly enjoy the running and rolling in the green lush grass). This year was the 25th Anniversary of Dallas Blooms, so they had all kinds of cool things at the park. They also had several storybook playhouses that the kids could explore (about 15), and while we were exploring one of them, we saw Laura Bush. She came by to see one of the houses that apparently was designed by someone she knew. Richard and I thought it was cool to see someone famous. The kids, however, preferred the petting zoo over Mrs. Bush! LOL Kids are really funny. (You can see her in the background of the picture of the kids with the animals)

Anyway, it was a beautiful start to spring. The colors were just beautiful. I wish I could go by every afternoon - it would be good therapy after long workdays!

March Activities

March is always a busy month. This year we had Science Night at school, and Jonathan got to show us what he learned about slope. Of course, Alyssa had to get involved as well! We also had a Parent Breakfast at school, but Richard missed it because he was sick that day. So, Jonathan and I went extra early to school and had breakfast together. And, of course, March is also the month for two birthdays on my side of the family - Marisa and "Nana." We celebrated at Nana's house, but we cooked lunch. We had a special black forest cake in Nana's new blue dessert dishes. It was a good time with family.

Gumballs Galore

Today was the first day of spring break. We slept in, had pancakes, and filled up the old bubblegum machine. The kids were very excited.

I am a Ch...

Everyone remembers the old sunday school song that spells out C-H-R-I-S-T-I-A-N. On Sunday night, Jonathan asked Jesus into his heart and accepted Him as his savior. Now, both kids have been going around singing that song. We ordered Jonathan his very own Bible and he started reading it Friday morning.

First Haircut!!!!

Well, Alyssa finally got her first haircut. We went with a bob that is slightly longer than shoulder length. I was going to cut it to her shoulders, but she said she wanted it a bit longer. We went to a kids salon near our house, and she even got her nails done. She was so excited! She got to sit in a Barbie Jeep to get her hair cut, watched Dora, and then picked out her own finger nail polish color - hot pink! She felt really pampered, and it was good Mom and daughter time.

Jonathan - Woodsman in the City

Today after church, Jonathan and I headed over to Bass Pro Shop to spend my Christmas gift cirtificate from Mom and Dad. I bought a folding shovel, ammo box, new sandals, and cherry sours! As always, we had fun looking around at guns and camping equipment. To our surprise, we heard that their was going to be a guided children's fishing seminar in the pond at the front of the store. Jonathan got in line and anxiously waited. Just using a minnow on a line with a bobber, he caught a five pound catfish. He was really excited, but he didn't want to hold it. He did touch it, though, and then they tossed it back into the pond.

Today was 86 degrees, so we took advantage of the sunshine. We cleaned trash out of the cars. Jonathan was inspired by the guns at Bass Pro, so afterward we shot BB guns in the backyard. Even Alyssa tried it.

Tonight we are feasting on the pork roast and cheese that I smoked yesterday, along with the homemade bread. Overall it was a good weekend!
