Happy Memorial Day!!

Well, because of ice, we had to make up a day of school today. But, the good part was that Jonathan got to participate in the morning's flag ceremony at school. He was the only cub scout to participate, and he got to actually help the boy scouts with the flag. He was so excited! Enjoy the photos, and Happy Memorial Day!

Tiger Cub!

Well, last night Jonathan had his first Blue and Gold Banquet at the local elementary school. It was a long night for my two little ones, but it was neat to see him get his Tiger Cub Badge. He also performed in a little song with all the other Tiger Cubs. They sang, "If You're a Tiger and You Know It." Enjoy the pictures.

Pinewood Derby, Generation 2

Jonathan and I participated in the CubScout Pinewood Derby this weekend and it made me reminisce. Some of the greatest memories I have from childhood involve the the activities that Dad and I did together back in the early 80s. We both made matching pinewood derby cars and painted them candy-apple red.

I don't remember winning, but we sure had fun. It was special being able share a similar memory with my son. Jonathan and I both made green cars. His was a racing car and mine was in the style of an old classic boat-tail roadster. Jonathan came in second place in his den.

Cub Scout Popcorn

Jonathan picked up his popcorn order this morning, and he earned himself a red pocket knife. He was so excited to have his first knife. Richard showed him how to be very careful with it, let him use it to open the popcorn box, and then we took it back...........for now at least. You just can't be too careful!
